The Gates Christmas Market
The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe, was invited to The Gates Primary School ‘Christmas Market’. She writes:
‘It was a pleasure to attend The Gates Primary School’s ‘Christmas Market’. The school was busy with adults and children buying the goods on sale which had been made by the pupils of the school.
It was lovely to see children proudly displaying and selling their own work, aided by the hard working staff and parent volunteers.
The wonderful school choir performed their Christmas songs.
I was escorted round the stalls by two polite and friendly pupils, Phoenix and Malika. We enjoyed a hot chocolate together by the tree.
I bought a plant from the Eco Team. They are part of the group of schools who are working with Westhoughton Town Council to look after the planters on Market Street.
I also bought a reindeer which the pupils had made using some wood from their ‘Forest School’. Their work was impressive.
Thank you to Mr Doherty Head Teacher (or should that be Head Elf?) for inviting me. Your pupils are well behaved, polite and talented and are a credit to the school and their families.
