The Big Plant!

Written by Cllr Gillian Wroe, Mayor of Westhoughton, “On Sunday afternoon, in the rain, a hardy group of 11 people planted 600 daffodil bulbs in Hall Lee Bank Park.

The bulbs, bought by Westhoughton Town Council as part of The Big Plant, were planted in several areas near to footpaths to create a Spring display next year.

In total 3000 bulbs are being planted by pupils from Westhoughton schools and community groups including Friends of Westhoughton and Daisy Hill Stations, Daisy Hill Community Garden, Westhoughton Park Bowling Club as part of the same event.

Thank you to Fiona, Julie, Amy, Gill, Margaret, Geoff and young Heidi for joining Cllrs Wilkinson, Jackson, Wroe and Tighe on such a challenging day. Heidi was given the honour of planting the last bulbs.
(Amy and Gill left before the photos were taken).

Thank you to all who have supported this year’s Big Plant to provide a cheerful display of daffodils next year.
