Black History Month Celebration!

On Saturday afternoon the Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe, was invited to an event to celebrate Black History Month. She writes:

‘I was pleased to attend a Family Fun Day at the Socialist Club in Bolton, organised by Marlene Stringfellow of Bolton Black History Group and supported by many of the group including Jeff and Lizzie.

There were many people from all backgrounds at the event, enjoying Caribbean food, listening to poems, songs and drumming.

There was such a joyous atmosphere and I felt so welcome. I was invited to play the drums in a group led by Abdul and later joined in the dancing to Marlon singing reggae music. It was a really uplifting afternoon and I would like to thank everyone for a wonderful afternoon.
