Blackrod Civic Service

Written by Cllr Gillian Wroe, Mayor of Westhoughton - “On Sunday 1st June it was a privilege and a pleasure, as Mayor of Westhoughton, to attend the Civic Service and Reception of the Mayor of Blackrod. I was accompanied by the Mayoress of Westhoughton, Cllr Deirdre McGeown. The service was at St Katharine’s Church, Blackrod and the reception at The Hawthorns. 

We were entertained by the beautiful singing of the Young Voices choir from Blackrod Church School. A lot of hard work must have gone into the performance by the children and their teacher.

The new Mayor of Blackrod, Cllr Kathryn Grant and her Consort Cllr David Grant were wonderful hosts to all their guests. We wish Kathryn all the best in her mayoral year.

Also supporting Kathryn on her special day were the Mayors and Mayoresses/Consorts of Bolton, Horwich and Adlington.’
