Grant for Amico Stars

Written by Cllr Gillian Wroe, Mayor of Westhoughton - “Recently, I went to visit Amico Stars (Morris Dancers) in the Carnegie Hall, where they rehearse. This fantastic group of 80 energetic and enthusiastic young people is run by Zoe and Stacey, with other hard working volunteers. Trainers at the Group include Rachel, Charlotte, Kate and Beth.

During my visit I explained to the youngest group who I was and that I was presenting a grant cheque for £500 from Westhoughton Town Council. This will help pay towards much needed performance outfits.

As I watched them practise their moves I had a little go too - they were much better than me! Thank you Amico Stars for welcoming me and I wish you well in future competitions.’
