Statue Ribbon Cutting

Mayor of Westhoughton, Councillor Sarita Chohan writes:

“It was a great honour to join the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, in the official unveiling of Westhoughton's new heritage statues today.

Featuring a cow, cricket equipment, and a greyhound, each statue represents an important part of Westhoughton's rich history and heritage, celebrating the traditions and industries that have helped shape our town over many generations.

This wonderful project has been funded through Section 106 developer contributions that were specifically set aside for public art following the construction of the town's Sainsbury's more than 16 years ago.

Despite the gloomy weather, the statues stood proudly and will now serve as a lasting reminder of Westhoughton's heritage for residents and visitors alike.

Thank you to everyone who attended the unveiling. I hope these beautiful additions to our town bring enjoyment, pride, and inspiration to all who see them for many years to come.

A wonderful addition to Westhoughton and a fitting tribute to our local history.”
