Krishna Temple Bolton
The Mayor of Westhoughton Councillor Sarita Chohan writes:
“It was a great honour and privilege for my consort and husband, Rishikesh, and I to attend the Krishna Katha this afternoon at the Krishna Temple in Bolton.
A Katha is a form of storytelling which helps everyone to understand religious texts.
As Mayor of Westhoughton, I was delighted to represent Westhoughton Town Council and would like to extend my sincere thanks to Mr Mohan Patel, President Mr Harish Patel, secretary, all committee members and volunteers for their kind invitation and warm hospitality
The Mandhata Mandal in Bolton has a proud history spanning over 50 years. During the 1960s and 1970s, our parents and grandparents worked incredibly hard and made many sacrifices to establish this beautiful temple, which today is recognised throughout the UK. The Krishna Temple is not only a place of worship for the Patel community but a welcoming temple and community centre for the entire Hindu community in Bolton.
Today was especially meaningful for me personally, as my father-in-law held many functions and committee meetings in this very temple. He often says that his heart is still here and sends his blessings to everyone at the temple.
A special thank you to the respected Maharaj/priest who made the Katha so interesting whilst adding humour and songs within it which held our attention.
Events such as the Krishna Katha remind us of Lord Krishna's teachings of love, compassion, faith and selfless service, while bringing people together in friendship and devotion.
Thank you once again for allowing us to be part of such a special and spiritual occasion.
Jai Shri Krishna.”
