Grant Awarded

The Town Council recently awarded a grant of £500 to the ‘Mortons Event Group’. Today, the Mayor went to hand over the presentation cheque to the group -

‘I went along to ‘The Mortons’, an age exclusive housing complex next to Westhoughton Railway Station. The residents have formed an events group in order to organise much needed support, in the form of social events, to combat loneliness and isolation.

The weather was glorious as we sat and chatted under the gazebo, the only communal meeting place on the site.

What a lovely group of people! I’m sure that with their ‘can do’ attitude they will make a success of all their efforts.
