Back To School For A Day!

The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe, visited St Bartholomew’s C of E Primary School. She writes:

‘I was delighted to be invited to St Bartholomew’s School to read a story to each class. Since retiring from teaching it’s been something I’ve missed so I really enjoyed my morning. The pupils (and staff) made me feel so welcome and I was very impressed by the behaviour, attention, questions and answers in each class.

In Years 1 & 2 I read my own hedgehog stories - ‘Hedgehog and the Fence’ and ‘The Hungry Hedgehog’.

In the other classes I read a chapter from their class novels - Y3 ‘Charlotte’s Web’, Y4 ‘Who Let the Gods Out?’, Y5 ‘Anglo Saxon Boy’, Y6 ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’. Thank you for introducing me to these interesting and exciting stories.

The school couldn’t give me permission to post photos that included the children so that’s why there are only ones of me reading.’
