Westhoughton Town Hall

‘Bolton Council officers invited councillors from Westhoughton Town Council to visit Westhoughton Town Hall to see for themselves the work that is being undertaken/planned on the building.

Cllrs Gillian Wroe, David Wilkinson, Alison Jackson, John McHugh and Martin Tighe attended as representatives of the council, guided by Adam from Parkinson’s, the contractor.

There is damage to the building due to water ingress but the original features, including stained glass windows, feature fireplaces, a sweeping staircase and impressive doors,  remain virtually intact.

Councillors were particularly pleased to see that the Council Chamber, although damaged in places, retains its stunning artwork and quality chairs and tables. The Mayor even tried out the Mayoral Chair for size!

The group also went up into the roof space and  out onto the roof where they could get views of the work, from inside and outside, and of Market Street.’
