On Tuesday 6th May, Cllr Neil Maher, Mayor of Westhoughton handed over the reins & Chains to Deputy Mayor, Cllr Gillian Wroe. Cllr Wroe will now take up the title of Mayor of Westhoughton for 2025 - 2026. Cllr Wroe thanked Cllrs Neil and Linda Maher for their term of office as Mayor and Mayoress in 2024 - 2025.

Cllr Wroe also thanked Cllr Alison Jackson for being her Consort in her Deputy Year and welcomed Cllr Deirdre McGeown as her Mayoress for this year.

Cllr Sarita Chohan was elected to take the role of Deputy Mayor for the year of 2025 to 2026 with her husband Rishi Chohan being her Consort.
