VE Day Service at War Memorial

This morning residents gathered at the War Memorial to mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. Led by Pastor Glen Atkinson from Cornerstone Church, a minutes silence was held, then wreaths laid by Cllr Gillian Wroe, Mayor of Westhoughton, Mr Alvis Younge on behalf of Westhoughton Royal British Legion and Mr David Kaye on behalf of the Westhoughton Local History Group.

Members of the Westhoughton Royal British Legion attended as standard bearers and even some members of The Hub at Westhoughton came down to the Service in fancy dress. It was lovely that the Bolton West Police Team were able to join us for this brief service.
