Christmas Markets Event

‘The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe, would like to thank everyone involved in making the Christmas Market Event, held on Sunday 30th November, such a huge success.

The Christmas Market Committee has worked hard all year preparing for the event. We could not have done it without the funding from Westhoughton Town Council and the support of the Town Clerk’s Office, local businesses, community groups and a team of willing volunteers.

The traders stalls on Market Street and in Carnegie Hall were full of wonderful hand made gifts and the Community Stalls were on hand to talk about their groups.

Most of the businesses opened on Market Street and were very busy all day.

The fairground rides and the entertainment on the stage provided a great atmosphere.

The Police and the First Aiders did a wonderful job of educating and informing both young and old. Bolton Play & Youth provided some great activities for our younger visitors.

And of course Father Christmas was a very special guest in his grotto and later on the street and at the Carol Service in Ditchfield Gardens.

Taking part in the Carol Service was the Rev Carol Pharoah, the Choir of Westhoughton and the amazing children of The Gates and Washacre Schools.

We were extremely fortunate with the lovely dry weather on the day.

Finally, a big thank you to the people of Westhoughton who filled the streets with happy faces, we are overwhelmed by your support and positive feedback!’
