Mini Police Event

The Deputy Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Sarita Chohan, recently had a very special assignment. She writes:

‘On Wednesday 19th November, I had the privilege of attending the Bolton Mini Police Attestation Event, accompanied by my consort/husband, Rishi.

Nine schools from across Bolton took part, each represented by ten children. From Westhoughton, The Gates Primary School was proudly selected, with Year 5 and Year 6 pupils becoming Westhoughton’s very first Mini Police Officers.

It was a wonderful presentation ceremony attended by proud teachers, parents, and dignitaries including the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr David Chadwick and the Mayoress of Bolton, Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester Kate Green, and representatives from Greater Manchester Police.

During the ceremony, the new Mini Police Team made a promise to always do their best in representing their school, Greater Manchester Police, and their community. The children were presented with their uniforms and ID badges — all worn with great pride.

As part of the programme, the children will take part in at least five activities, including crime scene investigation, custody, traffic day, and even a Bolton Wanderers celebration event.

We wish our Mini Police all the very best in their new roles and hope they enjoy every moment. A special thank you to GMP for making this opportunity possible.’
