Admiral Lord Nelson’s Birthday Celebration

Deputy Mayor of Westhoughton, Councillor Linda Maher and her consort Councillor Neil Maher writes:

“As Deputy Mayor, accompanied by my Consort, Councillor Neil Maher, it was a pleasure to attend Admiral Lord Nelson’s Birthday Celebration, hosted by the Royal Society of St George at Brookfields Hall, Westhoughton.

The Royal Society of St George does wonderful work supporting and raising funds for a variety of charities, and I was delighted to see this special evening raising funds for Bolton Hospice.

We were warmly welcomed by Michael Fay, Chairman of the Bolton Branch, alongside National Chairman Dr Chris Houghton. We also had the pleasure of hearing from Professor Gaynor Johnson, who gave a fascinating talk on the life and legacy of Admiral Lord Nelson.

It was a wonderful evening full of knowledge, history, naval traditions, a little rum , plenty of laughter and great company!

Thank you to everyone involved in organising such an enjoyable and informative evening, and for continuing to support such important charitable causes within our community.

A great evening celebrating history, tradition, friendship and charity.”
