Festival of Blackrod

On Saturday the Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe was invited to the ‘Festival of Blackrod’. She writes:

‘I made a short visit to the Festival of Blackrod on Saturday morning as I was expected at a very special 100th birthday party the same day.

The one day festival was the first to be held in Blackrod. The Mayor of Blackrod, Cllr Kathryn Grant, explained that a lot of hard work by the community and sponsors had gone into getting the event organised.

I was introduced to some of the groups represented there and had a brief chance to watch some of the entertainment before I had to leave. The forecast wet weather looked to hold off until later in the evening. The crowds were flocking in so I hope that everyone had a brilliant time.
