Talkin’ Tables
The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe, was at an event in Westhoughton Library on Friday afternoon:
‘An initiative called ‘Talkin’ Tables’ was started in Chorley by Marjorie Hayward as an idea to bring people together and encourage them to talk and forge new friendships. There are now 80 places in the UK where this happens and I was invited to the launch of the 3rd one in Westhoughton at Westhoughton Library.
Bolton, including Westhoughton, has a number of Talkin’Tables across the borough (see the leaflet below) set up by the energetic and enthusiastic Lynne Croston.
In Westhoughton the table leaders are Helen and Christine at St John’s, Wingates, Wednesday 10.30-11.30am; Helen and Martin at Capri Restaurant (recently moved from Thyme for Tea) Tuesday 10-11am; Helen (for now!) At Westhoughton Library, Friday 2.15-3.15pm.
Why not pop along to one of these for a cuppa and a chat and make new friends. Just turn up, you are assured of a warm welcome.
Pictured are Marjorie, Lynne, Helen and, with me, Gail who was the first visitor to the group.
I wish you every success in building new friendships in Westhoughton.’
