Navratri Celebration

Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Sarita Chohan writes “It was a real honour to join the Shree Sorathia Prajapati Community (SSPC) Bolton as Guest of Honour for their Navratri celebrations.

As a Hindu, Navratri holds a special place in my heart. It celebrates the divine feminine power through the nine forms of Maa Durga, symbolising strength, courage, wisdom and the triumph of good over evil.

This occasion was especially emotional for Rish and me. Bolton Indian Sports Club is where we celebrated our wedding 20 years ago — the very first Indian wedding at this venue! To return two decades later as Mayor of Westhoughton, on such an auspicious occasion, was truly a full-circle moment. A place filled with precious memories, now connected to another unforgettable milestone in my journey.

My heartfelt thanks to Prajesh Solanki and everyone at SSPC Bolton for their warm invitation and wonderful hospitality.

Celebrating our faith, honouring our heritage and bringing communities together — values that will always remain close to my heart.

Jai Mata Ji! May Mother Durga bless everyone with happiness, peace and prosperity.”
