Grant Awarded

Westhoughton Town Council awards grants to local community groups who provide support to the people of Westhoughton. The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe, presented a cheque to one such group:

“It was a pleasure to present a cheque for £500 to Jane Dixon, founder of ‘The Bereavement Cafe’. The group were meeting at Brookfield Hall in Westhoughton.

At this meeting there were around 25 people (I was asked not to take photos of the group) who were there to receive support following a bereavement).

There is a great need for groups such as these and Jane is passionate about trying to reach as many people as possible.

It was inspiring to hear Jane and her team of organisers listening to the people there and offering advice about how to deal with the aftermath of loss.

The council grant is specifically being used for a Winter Wellbeing Event planned for the 3rd December at Brookfield Hall, 10am - 2.30pm, during National Grief Awareness Week. Details of how to book are on ‘The Bereavement Cafe CIC’ Facebook page.”
