“Celebrating Community, Collaboration & Commitment

What a wonderful occasion at The Hub today as we welcomed Westhoughton Rotary Club to their new home for their regular meetings. As Mayor of Westhoughton, it was a real honour to be part of today's celebration and to welcome Rotary to The Hub. A huge thank you to Westhoughton Rotary for everything you do for our local community. Your continued support for local charities, schools, organisations and individuals makes such a positive difference to the people of Westhoughton.

I have personally had the privilege of seeing one of Rotary's fantastic initiatives, Books4Home, in action. Through this wonderful project, Rotary donated an incredible 200 pre-loved books to Woodland Academy, formerly known as Washacre Primary School.

Books4Home is about so much more than books. It gives pre-loved books a new lease of life, helping to reduce waste and prevent them from ending up in landfill, while inspiring children, encouraging a love of reading and opening up new worlds of learning and imagination.

One person's unwanted book can become another child's favourite story.

Under the guidance of Rotary Club President Mr Ollie Younge and Vice President Christine Walsh, I have no doubt that Rotary will continue to do fabulous work from their new home here at The Hub.

My Mayoral theme this year is Community, Care & Commitment, and I couldn't think of a better example of those three words coming together.

Community — bringing people and organisations together.

Care — supporting those who need it.

Commitment — giving time, energy and heart to making a difference.

I feel truly honoured to have been a small part of today's event and to celebrate this exciting new chapter with everyone.

So, let's give a huge congratulations to The Hub and Westhoughton Rotary Club on this fantastic collaboration!

Here's to many more projects, partnerships, friendships and opportunities to make a difference in our wonderful community.
