Imperial War Museum

Westhoughton Town Council approved a grant to the PTA of Washacre Primary Academy towards the cost of a visit to ‘Imperial War Museum North’ which took place on Wednesday. The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe attended Friday’s celebration assembly to hear about what the children had learnt on the visit.

‘I was delighted to accept the invitation to Washacre’s celebration assembly and to hear how much Yr 6 had enjoyed their day. Visiting museums enriches the curriculum and inspires the pupils to extend their knowledge of a subject. Mrs Bussey worked hard to make sure the funding was in place and Rishi and Sarita generously provided the packed lunches. There’s a great video on the school’s Facebook page all about it.

During the assembly we also heard about the school’s theme of the week ‘Honesty’ with a pupil from each class receiving a special certificate for being outstanding in this area.

Then a very exciting end to the assembly when the new name for the school was announced as………………. well I’m not going to tell you, I’ll leave it to the school to share that news!

Thank you to the Head Mr Howarth, the staff and especially the children for making the morning such a joyful experience.’
