30 Year Anniversary
The Mayor of Westhoughton, Cllr Gillian Wroe , was invited to a special service at St Bartholomew’s Church, Westhoughton. She writes:
‘It was a privilege to be invited as an honoured guest to the 30th Anniversary of the consecration and dedication of the new church. The new church was built after the devastating fire which took place on 28th November 1990. The rector at the time was the Rev’d Simon Tatton-Brown.
Sunday’s service was led by the Rev’d Carol Pharoah assisted by the Rev’d Tatton-Brown who gave a wonderful sermon including details of that terrible night and the difficult discussions which followed about the style of the new church. Personally I think it is perfect in every way. If you’ve never been in please do go and take a look, it’s stunning.
There were some problems with the heating but the warm welcome from the church officials and congregation made up for it. Thank you to everyone involved for creating such an enjoyable event.
