Seen & Heard Community Day
Mayor of Westhoughton Councillor Sarita Chohan writes:
“Seen & Heard Fibro – Raising Awareness, Understanding & Support
It was an absolute honour to be invited to The Grey Man to join Melissa Smith, founder of Seen & Heard Fibro, and members of this wonderful community support group. A very special thank you to Melissa Smith for the incredible work she is doing to support people living with fibromyalgia here in Westhoughton, whilst also raising much-needed awareness and funds.
Fibromyalgia can be an incredibly challenging condition to live with. Many of the symptoms are invisible, and the daily pain, fatigue and other challenges can have a significant impact on people’s lives. That is why groups like Seen & Heard Fibro are so important. They provide a safe space where people can come together, share their experiences, support one another and, most importantly, know that they are not alone.
As Mayor of Westhoughton, I feel very strongly about the importance of being part of and supporting our local community. My Mayoral theme of Community, Care & Commitment is about exactly this — listening to people, raising awareness, showing compassion and helping those who need support.
Today was a wonderful reminder of the strength that comes when our community comes together. Thank you, Melissa, for making sure that people living with fibromyalgia are Seen & Heard. Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, donated and helped make the event such a special occasion.
Together, we can continue to raise awareness, improve understanding and encourage greater compassion and support for everyone living with fibromyalgia.”
