Talkin’Tables 2nd Anniversary
On Wednesday the 14th January the Mayor and Mayoress of Westhoughton Cllrs Gillian Wroe and Deirdre McGeown attended a session of Talkin’Tables. Cllr Wroe writes:
‘We were pleased to be invited to the 2nd Anniversary of Talkin’Tables at St. John’s Church, Wingates by Helen and Christine. Talkin’Tables is an initiative set up by Marjorie Hayward in Chorley which has now spread across several towns. The aim of Talkin’Tables is to bring people together to combat loneliness one table at a time. ( See the leaflet for the places and times).
The energetic co-ordinator for the Bolton tables is Lynne Croston who also attended this party with Marjorie. Celebrating her own birthday, Helen was happy to cut the cake for the birthday celebrations of the group.
It was lovely to see some men attending amongst the women although they do like their own table! I’m hoping that someone will send me photos that they took of the women as I haven’t got one.
We would like to wish Talkin’Tables every success and thank the volunteers who give their time to support others.’
